5 out of 5 stars How could I not?   October 18, 2009

Well *sigh* yes another best of album but the Mac. Alas I cannot justify giving this album anything other than five stars due to just how amazing they are. This is a great collect of all things Fleetwood Mac. If you are new to the band, wanting a rounded collection of the hits, or just looking to add to your collection, then this is an excellent album. It contains their "very best" songs. Faultless...but we all know that. Worth a purchase if not just to have all these songs collected together.

first of all i have all of fleetwood macs albums from the first self titled album "fleetwood mac" to their more recent album "say you will" but its annoying having to go through them all to here a certain song so what this album does is comprise the "VERY BEST" of the mac and all the songs we know and love are there to be enjoyed on just 2 cd's. from go your own way to don't stop- from world turning to storms and everything in beteween this is a fleetwood mac fans bible. even if your not a fleetwood mac fan but are familiar with their music its great just to have so you can put it on some saturday night and sing along to them as everyone know the macs classics i would give this 10/10 because its just amazing

5 out of 5 stars Fresh as ever - 'A long-running Passion Play'   December 7, 2009

The last Fleetwood Mac `album' I bought was back in the seventies in Vinyl with Albatross and the Green thing.

Nearly 40 years later I watched, last week, a documentary about the members who made up the longest line-up of the five piece set of great musicians.

I hadn't realised the traumatic relationships the band had experienced. But it was that trauma and love that were the life-blood of their great love songs.

I'd always loved their work I know appreciate much more. Despite the faltering persoanl relationships between the couples on stage NOTHING there was nothing that could break the chain. The music and stagecraft was all-important as was their working relationship and this is captured in the double CD.

Listening to these wonderful tunes again and listening to the lyrics has given me even more pleasure. I now have a better understanding of the pain, love and energy that went into their work and I can also match that with the experiences I recall when I used to listen to their music.

The reasons that their music remains so popular is not just the great rifts, tunes, word craft etc but also the fact that we can put our lives, our selves against the backdrop of the tracks and remember the experiences that we had and are still perhaps to have or experience in some way.

As David Wild's cover notes read `The songs collected here offer us scenes from a musical marriage - a highly charged and productive full real harmony and real hurt'...' a long running passion play'.

The beauty of this double CD is not that it is a collection of their best work but that re-listening to these great songs brings new meaning every time as you gain more of life's experiences. They are not the same old songs, they are as fresh as they always were.
